Lt. Col. Stephan Porter (Ret.)

LTC(R) Stephan Porter first joined VFV while on Active Duty in transition as part of the Advisory Board in January 2019, he was asked to join the Board of Directors in February and is excited to help VFV grow to help Veterans of the Military and First Responders be well!


Retired from the Army on 30 September 2019 after 32 years of service (active & reserves, enlisted & officer), he now serves the greater Military Community (veterans, families, caregivers, etc) and First Responders through multiple business and volunteer efforts.


A founding Partner of Saint Maximus Consulting, focused on Military and First Responders Veterans, and their families, a stable landing place in industry. Providing support services to build or refine Veteran programs to acquire and retain, Veteran and Spouse talent; full spectrum leadership training; policy and metric development and analysis; Veteran resource group management. Saint Maximus provides Logistics consulting, ISO certifications, and a multitude of services from partner organizations.


Stephan is a staunch advocate for Transitioning service members and is an active member of the Joint Base San Antonio Transition Alliance; serves on the Leadership Council for the San Antonio USO Pathfinder program; advisies the Centurion Military Alliance’s efforts to prepare transitioning Service Members, Veterans and their families build Holistic Health, Well-Being and Resiliency to understand their positionality in transition. Stephan is a Veteran Ambassador with Wellness Wishes; the founder of a growing support network, MilCountry the Texas Hill Country; the VFW Post 7011 representative to the Comal Country Veterans Commission. Stephan launched a career within the Veteran Support world to help the transitioning community be successful.


Enlisting on 17 September 1987 as a Physical Therapy Specialist, he served first at Irwin Army Hospital, Ft Riley (where he was born while his father was in the Chemical Corps). Stephan was Commissioned as a Medical Service Corps Officer, intending to be a Physical Therapist; he pursued an Operations career after receiving orders to the 25th Infantry Division (HI), serving as a Medical Platoon Leader in the 4-27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds); changing his focus of gaining from the Military to one of service. This was pivotal in his life and resulted in a career spanning another 25 years, spanning 11 countries on five continents, nine permanent moves of the family, four deployments, and countless friends and memories! He ended his career as a Logistics Officer.


Stephan lives in New Braunfels, TX, and is married to an amazing woman, Juliana. They are very active at their church, the Holy Archangels Greek Orthodox Monastery. They are blessed beyond belief with 11 children, Chris, Johny, Nathaniel, Anna, Joshua, Gideon, Timothy, George, Isaiah, Miriam, and Joseph.
