TONIGHT Warriors for Life (WFL) — Join Steven for "Nevermore... A Cadet's Most Famous Word"

Join our Volunteer, Air Force Veteran, Peer Support Specialist, and Writer/Author Steven Bates TONIGHT for "Mid-Week Musings!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).

We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Nevermore... A Cadet's Most Famous Word"

"Today in 1845, a former West Point cadet, who had left the Academy in disgrace with a dismissal instead of a court-martial, published a poem which garnered him international attention mainly for one word, a word spoken by a bird of all things.  To be precise, a Raven.   In fact, the poem's title was The Raven and the word was "Nevermore".

Yes, the failed West Point cadet was Edgar Allen Poe, formerly Sgt Poe, who, under the name Sgt Edgar Perry, served with the 1st Artillery Regiment attaining the highest enlisted rank possible at the time.  He had entered under a fake name and altered age due to a conflict with his guardian at the time.

What did Poe mean with the word "nevermore" though?  In the poem, Edgar was telling how he was handling the loss of his beloved Lenore, and in the poem, we can learn a lot about how to handle the loss of a loved one."

Join Air Force veteran, author, and Peer Support Specialist Steven Bates as we discuss Edgar Allen Poe's thoughts on handling loss during the Warriors for Life Mid-Week Musings support group."
