TONIGHT's Topic: "He Has Risen!"
Their Leader had fallen, their dreams were dashed, and they were in hiding, until someone burst through the door with unbelievable news, "He is Risen!" Even though He had prepared them for these events, they still couldn't fathom how everything had gone so "wrong". This wasn't how it was supposed to be, particularly if He was the Messiah. Wasn't the Messiah supposed to conquer their enemies, but what they didn't understand was that He came to conquer enemies far more insidious and dangerous than the Romans. He came to fulfill the promise of Genesis 3:15, to conquer sin and death, and both had just been defeated.
Far from being defeated, Jesus was about to unveil His plan for Phase II of His plans to change the world. Phase I was almost complete, and Phase II would commence a few days later. Everything was going as planned,
But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters. (Galatians 4:4-5)
