TONIGHT's Topic: "Mindfulness and Mental Exhaustion!"
TONIGHT we would explore situations that create exhaustion that occur in everyday life but definitely open up for hazards of career fatigue if they want to chat. Symptoms and self-awareness of what that looks like, and physiological symptoms (short-tempered, irritability, sleeplessness etc.), and finally how to combat it by discovering things that 'refill' our cup. Sometimes it can be really positive to share little and big ways to 'reset' and restore our mental health. Especially with people potentially feeling isolated or more lonely, finding new ways to self-care.
Veteran SSgt Alia Schenck BIO
My name is Alia Schenck. I served in the U.S. Air Force as a Security Forces Member and Criminal Investigator from 2008-2013. In 2013, I made the decision to get out and pursue my childhood dream of becoming a therapist. At the University of Southern California I was able to pursue clinical social work responses to Mental health and Military and Family services through the concentrations within the program.
During my year clinical practicum I was placed with a trauma-focused nonprofit, where I eventually was employed as an advocate, group facilitator, policy chair, trainer, team lead, and therapist. My secondary passion as a nonprofit leader developed and my career path took a different turn. I am grateful to continue to advocate for veterans and families everywhere. I have experience working with complex PTSD, resume and vocational rehabilitation, transition support, and VA advocacy/disability. I recently moved to the Charlotte Metro. I am honored to be able to help in any way possible and eager to learn more about everyone!
