TONIGHT's Topic: "Abraham's Final Exam!"

We all face tests in life. Some are intended to show others what we can do and what we are made of, others are intended to show ourselves what we are made of, and some accomplish both goals. Army soldiers don't become Rangers just by enrolling in the school. They don't pin-on the coveted RANGER Tab until that have completed all the training and passed all the tests. Likewise, Navy sailors only become Navy SEALS after they have completed all the training and passed all the tests. The Ranger Tab and the SEAL Trident aren't "participation trophies", they are earned. Flunk-out rates are high for both programs, so only those who make it get the honor of joining those elite units and wearing those distinctive emblems. Not everyone "makes the grade".

Abraham didn't have a very good track-record with facing his challenges. In fact, he had failed miserably three times in just a few years because he had chosen to do things HIS way rather than trusting God for the outcome each time, but God wasn't done with him yet. God gave him one more chance, one more test, to see what Abraham was made of. Would he finally trust God for the outcome, or would he buckle?

Leaps of faith...

God doesn't call us to physically sacrifice our children, but sometimes He does call us to step out, to move out of our comfort-zone for our good and His glory. When I got married and moved to the Orlando area, I had no idea that my wife would abandon me less than six weeks later, but God knew. I didn't know that I would have to step totally out of my comfort-zone and take on missions for which I feel totally-unequipped, but God knew. If God had told me the details, would I have moved anyway?
