TONIGHT's Topic: "I Do Believe!"
Waylon Jennings is one of the best country outlaw singers, but he is also considered as one of the best songwriters, too. He proved this with his intriguing, yet well-written single “I Do Believe.” In 1995, the Highwaymen released their third studio album, The Road Goes on Forever, and it included the song written by Jennings. “I Do Believe” was not able to score a position on the chart when it was released with the album.
Why is Jennings’ song “I Do Believe” intriguing? Well, he discussed his belief in God, but not in the way most people picture God. In the song, the narrator sees God as someone who will love us and is not there to solve our problems.
I do believe in a higher power
One that loves us one and all
Not someone to solve our problems
Or to catch me when I fall
How do YOU picture God? Joins us for a lively discussion about this critical topic.
