The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Monday & Memorial Day!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome to a new week from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” on the road in Denver, CO — 30 May 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Remember & Honor Day!” Why Not?

“We can learn a lot about leadership from those men and women we honor today who came before us on this Memorial Day. Not all of those buried on hollow ground in our veteran ceremonies died in war, but they still served our country and made a sacrifice to secure our freedom. It reflects the courage and leadership they possessed to serve our great nation during wars and during peacetime to secure our freedom. All who reside in our veteran cemeteries today gave of themselves to others in service of our country; and some paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives. We can remember and honor them as leaders who placed the nation before self-interest!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good afternoon Col Burroughs and all of my brothers and sisters here on VFV. There are many ways to observe Memorial Day as there are people. Some say that they celebrate it, but I ask why would I celebrate? Well it could be because we should recognize the ultimate sacrifice some of our Service Members give to this great country of ours. But most of all I would say we honor and remember their sacrifices, not celebrate them.

I would like to remember and honor the sacrifice of someone on a whole different level. God so loved us that He gave His Son as a sacrifice for all sin from our beginning to our ending of our lives. That remembering…

Kind of ironic, as I was out putting a small flag by our mailbox to honor Memorial Day a neighbor was driving by with his family and boat for a day on the bay. We all celebrate the day in different ways. I celebrate everyone who gave their all to serve our country but as many of you know I'll be saluting Maj Nutter Wimbrow in less than an hour. https://opvets.org/nutter-jerome-wimbrow-iii/
