We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.
We thank you in advance for being our voice and sharing our program and mission with everyone you know that can help and in turn benefit from their peers in a safe environment - the more people that are aware, the more lives we can affect and save for another day.
TONIGHT's Topic: "Breaking Traditions!"
"As we celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, we are inundated by traditions of how the day is supposed to be planned. From what foods are prepared, how they are prepared, what to eat, when to eat, where to eat, what to do after and before the great meal, etc. Sometimes, however, traditional methods can and need to be altered...
...The yearly visit to the family grandparents for Thanksgiving is now at the parents' house as the elders have passed away for example. Children coming to dinner for festivities is no longer possible as they are serving the country in foreign lands as another example. Other times, traditions have archaic reasons that no longer apply, such as snapping the beans for hours prior to cooking them when now pre-cut beans are available in great supply. So how do we break from traditions and become comfortable with the change? How do we adapt to the disruption of time-honored traditions without a feeling of loss?"
