Join our Volunteer, Air Force Veteran, Peer Support Specialist, and Writer/Author Steven Bates TONIGHT for "Mid-Week Musings!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Warrior in Black - Fighting Addictions!"

"All someone has to hear is "the Man in Black" and people immediately know who you are talking about. The legend named Johnny Cash was born on this day in 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, and has become synonymous with songs about hard life living and pain. Ironically, his last song to hit the charts in his final days was titled "Hurt". Johnny Cash knew pain, and he knew the struggle with addiction. But Johnny Cash wasn't always an addict, in fact, he even served the country in the US Air Force from 1950-1954 in the Security Service Command and, working as a Morse code operator in Germany, was the first American to hear of Joseph Stalin's death.

After his military career, things really picked up for Cash including the use of amphetamines. Johnny became addicted, clean, addicted, and clean again many times during his life, Through religion, fear, hospital stays, and conviction, Johnny Cash struggled with addiction practically his entire adult life, but he had a lot to teach others in his path to healing."
Tips for Overcoming Addiction

Join the Warriors for Life Mid-Week Musings Support group with Air Force veteran, Peer Support Specialist, and Writer/Author Steven Bates as we discuss the life of Johnny Cash, fighting addictions, and some of the wisdom that the Man in Black was able to impart to us before his death from diabetes in 2003.
