Join Steven TONIGHT & WFL for "Bah Humbug? How about Baa Baa Black Sheep?"

Join our Volunteer, Air Force Veteran, Peer Support Specialist, and Writer/Author Steven Bates TONIGHT for "Mid-Week Musings!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).

We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

We thank you in advance for being our voice and sharing our program and mission with everyone you know that can help and in turn benefit from their peers in a safe environment - the more people that are aware, the more lives we can affect and save for another day.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Bah Humbug? How about Baa Baa Black Sheep?"

"December brings people and family members together, even those considered the family's Black Sheep.

In Military history, the epitome of misfits was once brought together to form a group called VMF214, the  Black Sheep Squadron.  They were a group well known for their high number of victories against the Japanese and were commanded by a man born on this day, Dec 4, 1912, named Gregory 'Pappy' Boyington.

Pappy was not your ordinary Black Sheep of the Marines, as he became the man who beat World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker's record of 26 kills, though on that mission he was shot down and became a Japanese POW for 20 months.  Pappy became a war icon, earning the Medal of Honor while he was missing in action as a POW.

...As veterans and those struggling with PTSD, often we are the Black Sheep in our own families.  Rejected, misunderstood, hyper-vigilant, rebellious, and sometimes even combative, we the veterans must strive to "fit in" at family times.  How do we accomplish this arduous task? As we honor the birthday of Col. Gregory Pappy Boyington, the leader of the Black Sheep, let us as often called 'Black Sheep' discuss methods and techniques we use to be accepted, fit in, and be welcome in our circles of family and friends during this holiday season."

Join the Warriors for Life Peer Support Group for the Mid-Week Musings session with Air Force veteran, author, and Peer Support Specialist Steven Bates as we talk about being Black Sheep and the leader of the Balck Sheep himself, Col. Pappy Boyington!
