It’s Depressing to Face the World

We at Victory for Veterans thank you for dropping by. Our goal is that you can find hope and answers here. We are new, and hope you will join us often to get more signs of hope, as we will be posting more often when we go public. Be strong.

I had a rather hard time the other night. It was kind of depressing. Things didn’t go right. Of course, I wasn’t feeling very well either, and there was a huge meeting I was to be the secretary for. I felt exhausted, and worried about my performance at the meeting.

Well, the meeting went great. I took good minutes, and I went to bed satisfied that everything was really OK after all.

What does that mean to me?

Do you have times when you feel that nothing is going right? Have you ever felt like you wanted to stay in bed and not go to work. I HEAR YOU!!

Days in the military, or after we get into the private sector, can be like trying to take on Sir Lancelot and his mighty sword with a wet noodle. You may not do very well.

If have learned things about how do handle this.

Did you know that a baseball player is considered a success when he fails two out of three times? If a play gets one hit out of every three times he comes up to the plate he has a batting average of .333. That is Hall of Fame level for that batter.

I learned about success at the plate when I was only 11 years old. Back then, I was on a little league team and my first time up at the plate at one game I struck out. A little boy went back to to dugout feeling sad. The coach came over and told me, “Sometimes when you step up to the plate you strike out.” Not exactly a, “You will be OK,” statement, but the next time I was at that same plate, I got a hit to right field.

Still remember that today. I didn’t go running home to mom and cry about my failure, I went home to my mom and told about my victory.

You can do the same. Don’t let failure control your life. If you are knocked down, get back up and try again. Yes it can be depressing, but never let your dark side dictate to you how you should react.
