I hope you can join us this Thursday evening for “Warriors for Life” WFL Group Support Community Service Healing Through Faith.
Thursday Night’s Topic: “Forsaken” Psalm 22 & Matthew 27
Here’s a little about Thursday evening:
Forsaken…
“Home Alone” may have made for a cute and sometimes hilarious movie, but “Black Swan” is a heart-wrenching tale many of us may relate to. Being “forgotten” is one thing, but being “rejected“, “forsaken“, “abandoned” is a gut-wrenching experience, and for that little girl, life would never be the same.
“Black Swan“, and “The Journey from Abandonment to Healing“, both by Susan Anderson, were two of the books I bought and read after my wife – of forty-one days – abruptly moved out while I was at a doctor’s appointment.
Some of you may remember the old childhood-refrain, “Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I’m going to go eat worms“, and while we knew that we WERE loved, that was how we felt at that moment, unloved, even hated.
“Abandoned“, “rejected” and “forsaken” all carry with them the connotation of being discarded, thrown-out, kicked-to-the-curb, etc, and involve the DELIBERATE action of another person. Whether it is receiving a “Dear John” letter, or being served with divorce papers, the meaning is unmistakable. You are NOT wanted any more.
As we compare and contrast two very-different story-lines, we are going to start with “The forgotten little brother“, from 1 Samuel 16:
