God separated the light from the darkness and gave names to each. He called one day and the other night. Keep in mind darkness, or night, wasn’t done away with. It was just separated from the light. This separation means we cannot have darkness and light at the same time. In fact, the way God separated them, darkness can never overpower light. Light can be dim or bright. And light can go out. But the way God created them, light always is more powerful than darkness. In truth, darkness is nothing more than the absence of light. That’s a powerful truth worth thinking about as you go through your day. |
God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day. — Genesis 1:3-5 (WEB) |
