Thankfulness is a sign of humility. Being thankful is one of the best ways to keep selfishness and self-centeredness from entering into your life. It’s a way you can actually guard your heart against self seeking.

A person with a thankful heart is more secure in their own identity. They recognize and are grateful for the contributions of others. They’re not intimidated when other people get credit for the good things they do.

Thanking God for what He does in your life and on your behalf is the perfect starting place for worship. In fact, the Bible tells us that those who are unthankful eventual become futile in their thoughts and they end up with darkened hearts.

All that to say, thankfulness opens the door to the spiritual realm like nothing else.
