In many ways the world’s way of doing things is exactly backwards from the Kingdom of God. This is very easy to see when it comes to money issues. For example, the world is impressed by big cash donations. However, in God's Kingdom, He looks at things proportionally where giving is concerned. God measures the size of an offering based on the percentage of what the person has, not on the cash value of the gift. This means a small cash amount can be a much bigger gift than a huge cash amount from someone else. We see this with the widow who gave just a tiny amount of change, when Jesus said she gave far more than those who gave extravagantly. In addition, God will never ask you to give more than you have because God will not put you in debt to give an offering. The Bible clearly tells us this when it reveals God receives our gift according to what we have, not according to what we don’t have. Therefore, don’t let someone manipulate you into giving foolishly. Instead let all your offerings flow directly out of your relationship with God. And expect Him to bless and prosper your generosity. |
