Jesus said, “no one puts new wine into old wineskins.” We must mix the new wine of revelation from God with the new wineskin of our faith in order for it to be effective in our lives. Unfortunately, so many Christians are trying to put the new wine of revelation into the old wineskin of doing the right things to get God to move on their behalf. “If I just pray more, or behave better, then maybe God will supply the miracle I need.” Yet we receive from God by faith, not by our works. Even so, just hearing, or even agreeing with God's word is not enough. We must believe that word from God so strongly that we act on it in faith. Until we do, that word will have little impact on our lives. But once a word from God becomes revelation to your heart and you act on it in faith, that word has the potential to sort out whatever problem you face in your life amazingly fast. |
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. — Luke 5:37 (NKJV) |
