If you are having trouble hearing God, you would do well to slow down, get quiet, and momentarily rise above whatever chaos is swirling around you. Jesus repeatedly drew away from the masses to solitary places for time alone with the Father. It didn’t seem to matter how busy things got with His ministry, Jesus continued to consistently make time to get into the presence of His Father in prayer. This is how Jesus was able to say and do only the things which He saw His Father saying and doing. Jesus even made time to be alone with the Father on the very night He was arrested, before His trials and crucification. Since it was important for Jesus, how much more vital is it for you? Find someplace quiet today. Calm your thoughts. And remember to listen for God's still small voice. You might be very surprised what He has to say to you. |
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. — 1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) |
