If you feel distant from God, or like He’s a stranger which you hardly know at this point, it is your attitude and perception that's causing the distance. God is still right there, patiently waiting and longing for more intimacy with you.
One obstacle some encounter is thinking they must clean up their act to have intimacy with God. But that’s exactly backwards. In fact, the Bible says that's double-minded. It reflects a heart which wants to be near to God, but thinks it cannot because of wrong behavior.
Instead, you are invited to draw near to God just as you are, and then He will clean up your act for you. In truth, our behavior naturally changes in response to an intimate experience of God's love.
Regardless of how you feel, why not make it a point to invest some time getting into the presence of God today. You may be surprised how your feelings transform once you press through to enter His presence.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.
