AUDIO VERSION
Patience is not only about waiting, it is about trusting God. Life often pushes us into situations where we want things to change right now.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:4
Maybe you are waiting for a breakthrough, healing, or an answer to prayer, but James reminds us that patience is a process, and when we let God do his complete work in us, we grow into maturity.
God is shaping our character, and when we face challenges, it is easy to ask, Why is this happening? Instead, God wants us to ask, What is this producing in me? Difficult times are when we learn endurance, faith, and dependence on Him. They refine us like gold in fire, making us stronger and more like Jesus.
James says that patience brings us to a place where we are perfect and complete, lacking nothing. That does not mean we will be flawless, but it does mean we will be spiritually whole. When we surrender to the timing God has instead of fighting against it, we develop a deep rooted faith that is not shaken by the ups and downs of life.
When we allow patience to do its work, our faith becomes unshakable. We stop grasping for quick fixes and start resting in the confidence that God is at work, even when we can not see it yet.
If you are waiting on God, take heart. God is not ignoring you; He is preparing you. Keep trusting God, keep growing, and let God finish His work in you, knowing that when He does, you will come out stronger, wiser, and more in tune with the plan God has for your life.
Heavenly Father, help me to embrace patience as part of Your plan for my growth. When things do not happen in the time I expected, remind me that You are working on everything for my good. Strengthen my faith and make me complete in You. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
