God intentionally created us with feelings and emotions. However our feelings were never meant to control us. Being ruled by our emotions will make us unstable and cause us to have poor decision making.
Even though it’s not good when our emotions rule over us, they still do give us insight into what we believe when we pay attention. For example, emotional intensity reveals depth of our belief in that area we feel the emotion about.
We do better when we use our feelings as a gauge, not a guide. They only indicate where you are, and should not control where you are going. You will always do well to let God's word overrule your feelings.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts and passions. — Romans 6:12 (AMP)
