You won't grow to spiritual maturity by accident. Just like adults can act very childish, your maturity is not measured by how long you have been a believer.
The way you grow spiritually is twofold. It starts by investing time in the Word of God. Read it. Study it. Ponder it. Listen to good Biblical teaching. Until you make a space in your life to learn who God is through His word, you won't be able to receive all He has for you. And you will keep struggling with the same old problems.
But when you do invest time in His word, you give God room to move and operate in your life. Which brings us to the second part, investing time in His presence. His presence is powerful for permeating truths from His word deep into our soul where they can affect the most positive change. Combining time in His word with time in His presence will transform even the hardest heart into the image of His Son.
That’s the way we walk into maturity in Christ.
As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow, if it is true that you have experienced that the Lord is good. — 1 Peter 2:2-3 (MEV)
