Jesus said discipleship is the path to freedom. It's only the truth you know, when you are abiding continually in Jesus' word and presence, that will set you free. We find that liberty in the grace message that Jesus brought to earth.
In Christ we no longer need to earn God's approval. Nor will we be punished for our shortcomings. Jesus took all the punishment that we deserve so that we can receive all the blessings He deserves.
This messes with our ego and pride. We naturally want to somehow deserve and earn the good things we get. That’s fleshly deception because we will always fall short of the mark on our own merits.
The only way we can truly receive abundant blessings from God is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus. God’s grace makes us truly free from ever having to strive to be good enough to deserve blessing ever again. At the same time, God’s grace legally entitles us to the abundant blessings Jesus earned because of our new identity and position in Christ.
When you know that grace, it brings freedom indeed! |
