TONIGHT's Topic: "Discussing Durning"
"Charles Durning, nicknamed the "King of Character Acting", was born on this day in 1923, 101 years ago, and died at the age of 89 on Christmas Eve in 2012. Anyone who has ever seen "The Muppet Movie" knows him as the villain "Doc Hopper", but did you know he was a veteran as well?
In fact, at the age of 20, Charles Durning was the second off the landing craft at the beach of Omaha during D-Day! Severely wounded when storming the beach, after recovering he was reassigned to a new unit and then fought in the Battle of the Bulge! What can we learn from one of the most beloved character actors of all time?" — Air Force Veteran Steven Bates
What lessons did he learn from his experiences that might help us in our PTSD battles?
Tune in tonight with the Warriors for Life Peer Support Group and Air Force veteran and author Steven Bates as we discuss Charles Durning, a hero in every sense of the word and an icon of stage, screen, and yes, even the ballroom floor!
